Description:
Dave Clark stars in this 1960s cult classic as a stuntman who gives up the rat-race to see the real world, along with his four friends (played by the Dave Clark Five). On his travels he picks up a pretty model who is also sick of the humdrum, money-driven world of advertising and decides to come along for the ride. On a sunny island they mix with beatniks and society hipsters while singing classic beat hits during a wild weekend, as agents ad men and the national press try to catch them ... if they can.
Boorman dives into his film career with zest as he captures the essence of the 60s music and youth culture scene in full swing. Similar to Lester's Beatles films, but without the gimmicks and camera tricks, Boorman goes instead for a flowing but quirky narrative, with well conceived scenes in great locations. Manny Wynn's photography is wonderfully atmospheric, and the stylish filmmaking that made Point Blank such a classic is also in evidence.
