TCT I is in no way outdated, but delivers you with lots of useful exercises to sharpen your chess-weapons! After solving some exercises you can watch your ELO strenght how it is changing from exercise to exercise.

In detail:

CT-Art 3.0
The program is the 3rd revised and expanded edition of the ever popular Chess Tactics Art by the Russian GM of Correspondence chess, Maxim Blokh. The focus of the examples' difficulty is on amateurs but even masters will find themselves challenged by the hardest ones.

Strategy 2.0

There is also a special training section with more than 1000 exercises for a user to solve as well as 400 training positions to be played against the built-in chess playing program Crafty. The course is composed by GM Kalinin. The Encyclopedia of Middlegame program contains detailed material on two courses:

4) Various grades by difficulty level (ELO 1800-2400).

Note: To be sure that everything works fine burn TCT I/II to a cd and install it from there. Reboot your comp and let the cd inserted while starting a module of TCT I/II. This is only needed once for each module. It's apparently necessary to prevent runtime errors during starting the game.


Alternative RS-Link:
Please try this alternative RS-Link if you encountered Runtime Errors with the first link (I am going to remove one of the two links afterwards...). I tried to fix it so lets see if this one works! This time its an *.iso so either you burn it to a cd or use a virtual drive with Nero or say Alcohol which both you can find in this forum.
